Briksdalsbreen is one of the most-visited glacier arms of Jostedalsbreen. It is set in Briksdal Valley, at the end of Oldedalen Valley. In high season, the path to the glacier can get pretty crowded, with a tourist train taking the cruise ship visitors up and down the hill. There’s even a souvenir shop.
If you want to experience nature without the crowd, then go either early morning or after dinner. From the parking, it’s about a 45min walk uphill (3km with approximately 200m elevation gain). You’ll pass a nice waterfall before you reach the glacier lake.
Unfortunately, in the past decade, Briksdalsbreen has shrunk drastically. A lot of the photos found online don’t represent what you’ll encounter nowadays.
